I have had other GM's overhype their villains so much that we went "NOPE!" and walked away. They always ask "Why didn't you fight them? It was the entire adventure!". I even have done this a few times myself as a GM. Most times the players act like lemmings who throw themselves into impossible situations. They really have no choice than to hope that the GM has balanced the encounter correctly. An overwhelming description can appear that the GM is giving them a strong hint not to fight them. Sometimes a GM gifted in description can go into so much detail that the villain sounds like the end-boss rather than the fight of the night. So... lets just call Andy over gifted this night.
