    New in gaming

Brian Wade's game in Pathfinder has started.  We're actually on game 4!  We are all learning the system so it's a bit slow and frustrating at times.  Also first level... yeah, you always forget what a drag that is.  Like a traumatic memory.  Can't hit, one shots and failed saves.  Oh, the failed saves.  Sigh.  We just made level 2, so I am sure I am a transformed man.

I updated the Archives to include the most recent games we finished.  I say "recent" with some irony since it hadn't been updated in years.  I mean the blogs were all there but after a few years they get buried in the stack of more recent ones.  What about all the poor innocents who are crying out for those titillating stories and can't find them?  Well, I've got their back.  Look in the Archives.

    Hello and Goodbye

Jon has started a 1st edition D&D campaign after having a bout of nostalgia.  Hello and welcome!  Brian has had an unfortunate case of death, brought on by a virulent bout of Balorism.  Goodbye!

    Andy's Game On Hold

Andy notified us last week that his game is on hold.  We all wish him the best and hope he can restart when it's convenient for him.

    A New World!

Brian is starting a new campaign in the Ravenloft setting.  While he is encouraging odd races from the base books (Player's Handbook, Modenkainen's, XAnathar, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, Elemental Evil Player's Guide, and Volo's) all other sources are discouraged with the possible exception of Eberron.  Starting racial feat, +2 to stats with a base distribution of 15,14,13,12,10,8.  There will be Heirloom magic items that grow in power (1st, 4th, 8th, 12th).  Campaign is expected to go through level 15th. An additional +1 to any stat is given if a character history is provided.

The Archives

WatcherI am the Watcher... er, a player.  Throughout the years many campaigns have been played.  I would like to say the memories they create are eternal... but they aren't.  As memories fade, some things remain.  Like the chronicles of nightly play sessions.

Ravenloft- Land of Eternal Darkness

Ravenloft

From 11/21/20 to 08/18/23 Brain Wade ran us through the gloomy, mist-filled land of Ravenloft.  These days were barren of sun, laughter, and life... except in our group, where we laughed and had fun.  Because we were visiting and not living there.  We finished the adventure victorious and then most of the group left this hellscape plane before it could drag us back somehow.

Deadwood- A Dip Into the Strange

Deadlands Reloaded

From 05/08/20 to 08/14/20 Brain Wade ran us through the Old West.  If the Old West was some grade-B horror film.  It was an adventure.

Andy's Time of Terror!

FireStorm Peak

From 11/22/19 to 12/11/20 Andy ran his custom-made world adventure based on D&D 5e.  He was a great DM, though we occasionally got bogged down in rule decisions.  I was running possibly my favorite D&D class/race combination.  Unfortunately, it ran out of steam and petered out too soon.  It will be missed.

The Temple of Elemental Evil

TempleOfElementalEvil

From 01/15/16 to 01/04/19 Brian Wade's adventure through the Temple of Elemental Evil entertained and frustrated in turns.  In other words, it was good old fashioned fun!

Palladium Megaverse

Palladium

From mid-December 2011 to May 31st 2013, I ran my favorite game system, Rifts, with my D&D group.  It was common to hear "This is horribly organized" (it's true, the rules are horribly organized) and "That makes no sense" and the most common "This game isn't balanced!".  Most of its true.  You can play a dragon or a peasant but don't expect your peasant to survive even one attack.  My response was always "If you can play a freaking dragon, why the hell are you playing a damn peasant?"  It ended with the birth of my twin girls slightly prematurely (both the game and the girls) and I think my friends have since gotten over the trauma of playing this type of open-ended game system.  Either that or they have blotted it from their minds...

The Lost

PaperBlowing

Characters from games that have no other records.  Games that may have run for years... yet not that much is known.  Here lie the remnants of campaigns that were once great and are now forgotten.
